ACI-ASTM CK3MCuN (1.4593, J93254) Cast Stainless Steel

ACI-ASTM CK3MCuN steel is an austenitic stainless steel formulated for casting. Cited properties are appropriate for the heat treated (HT) condition. CK3MCuN is the designation in both the ACI and ASTM systems for this material. 1.4593 is the EN numeric designation. And J93254 is the UNS number.

It has a moderately low thermal conductivity among cast austenitic stainless steels. In addition, it has a fairly high tensile strength and a moderately high ductility.

The graph bars on the material properties cards below compare ACI-ASTM CK3MCuN steel to: cast austenitic stainless steels (top), all iron alloys (middle), and the entire database (bottom). A full bar means this is the highest value in the relevant set. A half-full bar means it's 50% of the highest, and so on.

Alloy Composition

Among cast stainless steels, the composition of ACI-ASTM CK3MCuN steel is notable for containing a comparatively high amount of molybdenum (Mo) and including copper (Cu). Molybdenum is used to facilitate tempering. In addition, it offers modest bonuses to a wide range of material properties. Copper is primarily used to improve resistance to acids.

Iron (Fe)Fe 49.5 to 56.3
Chromium (Cr)Cr 19.5 to 20.5
Nickel (Ni)Ni 17.5 to 19.5
Molybdenum (Mo)Mo 6.0 to 7.0
Copper (Cu)Cu 0.5 to 1.0
Manganese (Mn)Mn 0 to 1.2
Silicon (Si)Si 0 to 1.0
Nitrogen (N)N 0.18 to 0.24
Phosphorus (P)P 0 to 0.045
Carbon (C)C 0 to 0.025
Sulfur (S)S 0 to 0.010

All values are % weight. Ranges represent what is permitted under applicable standards.
