AWS ER80S-B8 or ER55S-B8 (S50480) Weld Metal
AWS ER80S-B8 is a weld metal formulated for joining alloy steels. Cited properties are appropriate for the post-weld heat treated (PWHT) condition. ER80S-B8 is the AWS designation for this material. S50480 is the UNS number. Older literature may refer to this material as ER505, but this is now discouraged.
It has a fairly high base cost among alloy steel welding fillers. In addition, it has a fairly high embodied energy and a fairly high electrical conductivity.
The graph bars on the material properties cards below compare AWS ER80S-B8 to: alloy steel welding fillers (top), all iron alloys (middle), and the entire database (bottom). A full bar means this is the highest value in the relevant set. A half-full bar means it's 50% of the highest, and so on.
