EN 1.4470 (GX2CrNiMoN22-5-3) Cast Stainless Steel

EN 1.4470 stainless steel is a duplex stainless steel formulated for casting. Cited properties are appropriate for the solution annealed (AT) condition. 1.4470 is the EN numeric designation for this material. GX2CrNiMoN22-5-3 is the EN chemical designation.

The graph bars on the material properties cards below compare EN 1.4470 stainless steel to: cast duplex stainless steels (top), all iron alloys (middle), and the entire database (bottom). A full bar means this is the highest value in the relevant set. A half-full bar means it's 50% of the highest, and so on.

Alloy Composition

Among cast stainless steels, the composition of EN 1.4470 stainless steel is notable for containing a comparatively high amount of chromium (Cr) and including nitrogen (N). Chromium is the defining alloying element of stainless steel. Higher chromium content imparts additional corrosion resistance. Nitrogen has a substantial strengthening effect, but has a complex (frequently negative) relationship with corrosion resistance.

Iron (Fe)Fe 63.7 to 71.9
Chromium (Cr)Cr 21 to 23
Nickel (Ni)Ni 4.5 to 6.5
Molybdenum (Mo)Mo 2.5 to 3.5
Manganese (Mn)Mn 0 to 2.0
Silicon (Si)Si 0 to 1.0
Nitrogen (N)N 0.12 to 0.2
Phosphorus (P)P 0 to 0.035
Carbon (C)C 0 to 0.030
Sulfur (S)S 0 to 0.025

All values are % weight. Ranges represent what is permitted under applicable standards.
